| annasocial's Full Review: Philips PC Internal CDRW 400 Series |
I bought my Philips CDRW 400 series from Best Buy in October of last year. I have an IBM Aptiva (don't remember the call numbers on it) with a PII 400mhz processor and 128RAM running Windows 98. I too did the jghanisco song and dance with my CDRW. Playing with the jumpers; master, slave, master, slave...everything, I even went and got new software for it (EZCD) to see if it was software conflicts. I was a bit nervous after installing the Cequadrat software when it asked for a driver disk that DIDN'T COME WITH MY PACKAGE. Either Philips screwed up and didn't package with the burner or the software is confused. I even went to the software manufacturers site and downloaded drivers from there, to no avail. I feel like I wasted $200. I even called Philip's technical support, was routed, rerouted, and finally my connection just died. Excellent technical support, just dump the customer.
My computer HATES the writer. Every time I go to burn a CD it locks my computer up. At least that part of it is consistent. I've made more coasters in the past few months than I've made viable CDs. Needless to say, I won't be buying anything from Philips/Magnavox in the forseeable future. I'm not technically illiterate, but if anyone has the fix to this, I would be indebted forever...email me at:annasocial@anti-social.com
