| mom2ericha's Full Review: Net2Phone |
I've used Net2Phone for about two weeks now, making calls to my mother, who is long distance/zone. I haven't downloaded anything, but there is a download available. I have accessed it through the 3rd version of the MSN Messenger, which has this feature, through Net2Phone. I'm guessing even if I downloaded the software the quality of the call would be the same.
It is so irritating to call her with this product, that I've determined that unless I can find another like-product that has better quality, I'm back to paying a whopper of a phone bill. Its worth it, in this case. I can hardly hear anything my moms says, and everything I say echoes back to me and makes it sound like she is talking. We can't both speak at the same time, and there must be a time lapse of a second or two for the speakers words to transmit.
There is NO way you can make any business calls or professional sounding calls using this product. If you think you will use it to call long distance to make hotel reservations, etc. forget it. By the time you keep explaining yourself and re-explaining yourself to make your words clear, you'll be so flustered and frustrated you'll want to scream. Then also, you have to worry about getting the proper reservations, etc.
I can't tell what the sound quality is like on the other end, because I've only been on the phoning end of these calls. My mother explains that I sound like I'm calling from a cave, far far away. My words echo also, and its hard to understand what I'm saying.
The initial concept of free internet phone calling is great, but the technological advances need to improve dramatically in my opinion.
