Abe's inability

Written: Sep 29 '00
Pros:Didn't cost anything...
Cons:and was worth every penny :-(

I want to download some MP3s on the company network so I'm limited to the HTTP and FTP protocols. Having spent hours closing extraneous windows and cursing MP3z sitez for their lack of choice, I stumbled across this section of the epinions site and decided to try out a few of the programs available. I started with Abe's MP3 Finder.

It found very few examples of the music I wanted. Sites it listed as no ratio proved to be ratio after all, links were mostly dead, downloads failed, the program crashed and I eventually got fed up and went back to the internet. Anything was better than this! Well, apart from MP3 Fiend, which never successfully downloaded a single file, but that's a review for another section...

My advise, if like me, you can't use the more reliable Napster or one of it's equivalents, don't try to use this software, rip your own CDs or buy them instead, because this isn't worth the hassle. Mind you, I was looking for more eclectic music, not the latest chart toppers, so you may have better luck download Britney than I had with REM.
