I own two of the 15" Apple Studio Displays as pictured here and I love them. Too bad you can't buy one anymore. Apple still sells a product with the same name but it is not the same.
I bought mine for use with Windows PCs. I did so because the Apple flat panel was beautiful, high quality, and reasonably priced (for a flat panel) at $1200. I really liked (and still like) the fact that it had RCA and S-Video jacks and could show video without the use of a computer.
It is a fantastic monitor. The display quality is great, it looks great, the color is great, the brightness is great, and so on. No complaints at all. At the time the Apple display was probably the best available. Newer flat panels from other top vendors have now caught up in terms of display quality and contrast and are even a bit brighter than my older versions.
The bad news is that the monitor pictured is no longer available. Apple has replaced it with an identically named product that is very different.
The new model has a different look. The height adjustable stand is now gone and the frosted plastic has been replaced with clear. All in all I really like the new look but...
I am very sad that they have removed the VGA connector and the video capabilities. The new model uses a proprietary Apple video connector (sorry PC users) and has no other connectors. Some of the other ePinions reviews of this product talk about a standard DVI connector but that too has been phased out. The Apple 15" flat panel is now for Macintosh users only.
For those looking for a high quality, nice looking flat panel with a VGA connector and video capabilities, I recommend the 15" model 150MP and 17" model 170MP from Samsung. Both of these also include a TV tuner as well as video and VGA inputs. The 17" model ups the resolution to 1280X768 and, at $1600 street, is quite a deal.
Auction fans who own PCs can probably find VGA/Video and DVI versions of this monitor at a reasonable price. If you can get one with no bad pixels for under $700 then I say go for it.
