| dotkaye's Full Review: Play Snappy Video Snapshot |
After reading all the rave reviews, I got v3.0 Deluxe last year. First problem, it requires a dedicated parallel port: I didn't feel like unplugging my printer every time I wanted to use snappy, and the laser printer I have isn't happy with switchboxes. So, before I could even use the product, I had to buy and install a new parallel port.
The quality of the images is startlingly bad: muddy and blurred. I'm using a hi-8 camcorder as source. Playback from this on the camcorder and on a monitor is excellent, but the pictures Snappy captures are much worse than on these displays. There is a lag between hitting the 'Snap' button, and the actual capture, so it never captures the picture I want.
I've tried it on Win95 40M memory Pentium 75, and WinNT4.0 512M memory Pentium III 450, and the results were the same on both machines. On the NT, processing was faster, but the results were the same.
Don't waste your money.
