Written: Nov 14 '00 (Updated Nov 14 '00)
Pros:Very Engaging! Can be played over and over again with different results
Cons:none

Please Note: I had originally written this opinion months ago and at the time it was located in the wrong spot on Epinions. I e-mailed Customer Service numerous times and asked them if they could move it for me and they did not..so I am re-posting it here. Enjoy!!

What a clever software game for children! Fisher-Price generally does not disappoint me and this was no exception. Wild Western Town the CDROM game is actually based on the best-selling toy set of the same name. This CDROM game features bright and clear graphics and a wonderful easy concept for children, primarily ages 3-9.

The goal is to find 9 gold bars that were stolen from the bank by Bandit Bob and hidden all around this interactive little town. The Sheriff and Deputy P.D. (short for Prairie Dog, of course!) enlist the help of your child to find all the gold and help put Bandit Bob back in jail.

Basically, you search around town and click on everything to uncover the hiding spot of all 9 gold bars. Once you find them they are added to the bank vault. Along the way, there are plenty of other activities that will engage your child. They can create "Wacky Wanted Posters" which will most certainly produce giggles from young ones as they create their own person (think Mr. Potato Head with more options and accessories). The "Deputy Designer Badge" works in a similar fashion as you can create a badge with all sorts of creative options. Both of these activities have a Print option, so parents can get real clever here and print it out onto sturdy paper and actually make a badge for your child to wear while playing this game!

Other activities include "Emma's Dilemma" which takes place in a general store and Miss Emma needs help in finding items for certain categories. Kids can search the store, for example and find out what would be appropriate for a camping trip. They then have to click and place the specified number of items in the bag. The "Barrel Boot" is just strictly for laughs as you kick a big barrel out onto a scene with various items nearby. The barrel will hit something and a little scene will ensue. My nephew (age 6) really had fun with this activity. The "Town Cannon" works in the same way as you click on an item and place it in a cannon which will then change the item as it shoots out into the sky. Again- warning- laughter will most definitely follow!!
The "Wild West Sing Along" is just that- you select certain songs- like "Home on the Range" and children can sing along with the words on the screen. "Guest Guess" really requires some thinking from your child as this activity presents a guest walking into a hotel lobby and asking for their item. Children must then select an item which is the MOST similar to a feature of the guest. Ok - I admit I even got one wrong on my first attempt and my 8 year old niece got it right! It WAS sorta tricky at first!

This is a great interactive game with several activities included that should keep your children interested for quite awhile. Also, in case you were wondering- the gold bars always are hidden in different places for each game- as my nephew found out when he thought he could quickly find all the bars by clicking on all the spots his sister had just clicked on in her turn. They keep changing, which makes it great for playing over and over again!
This is definitely a great game and will produce Wild laughter and fun from playing it.
