| Paladia's Full Review: Creative Labs Video Blaster WebCam 3 |
This camera makes a nice web-cam on its own, but add the extra feature of a digital camera and it's a superb value. I used to have a Connectix QuickCam VC (parallel port), and was always unhappy with the lag time when videoing, but lived with it. I work in a computer store, and when we tested out one of these little WebCamGo's, I was so surprised at how much faster the frames appear. I think the USB connection helps somewhat.
Regardless, with 4 Mb of built in memory, this camera holds 90 images at 640x480 and 200 at 320x240, which is outstanding in my book. It has a timer so you can include yourself in the occasional shot, runs off of 2 AAA batteries, and will even take multiple frames, of which you can control the time sequencing!
The bad things about it would be the lack of a flash or LCD screen to see what you are actually taking. It does have a viewfinder, but the kind on older film cameras that you have to simply look through (oh how nostalgic). But it still takes great pictures, and the USB connection is so easy to do.
Comes with ArcSoft PhotoStudio as well as NetMeeting and a video-editing program to use those frame sequences. We've sold several in our shop with no unsatisfied customers. If you need a webcam and wouldn't mind having a simple digital camera thrown in, this is the camera for you.
