Pros:Excellent learning tool and interesting.
Cons:None

That's just one of the hundreds of questions kids can come up with. Although your child won't find out the answer to that particular question, he or she will be amazed discovering the Way Things Work while using this software.

My family owns both the original CD and this new CD as well. Although the suggested age is 10 and up, my kids have been fascinated with this software since my youngest was 5. I acquired the original CD after winning an online contest from the Disney website. I wrapped it up along with three other programs included in my winnings for Christmas. The other CDs were basically photo CDs of birds, cats and people. The Way Things Work CD has definitely been the favorite in our house.

The software illustrates via pictures, simple text, animation and sound how common everyday things work; including: musical instruments, power tools, and the telephone. Even though we've owned the original CD for over 3 years, my kids will routinely play with the software. As their age and maturity changes, so do the questions and their understanding of the software change along with it.

We have even had dinner table discussions at various times where one of the boys will ask how something works and after dinner my husband or I will sit down with the software and one of our sons to see if his question can be answered through referencing the Way Things Work software. My entire family has used and continues to use the software.

The software is both PC and Macintosh friendly. I own a Mac and one of the problems I've experienced is that not all the dual PC/Mac software will run competently on my Mac. This is not the case with Way Things Work, it is suitable for both PCs and Macs.
