The SoundWorks Digital
Written: Mar 21 '00
Pros:Whoop-Ass Bass and Bright Treble
Cons:Wake up your neighbors
With CSW dropping the price of the Cambridge SoundWorks speakers to $79, they have introduced the Cambridge SoundWorks Digital set. Usually in black, with the bass port on the side of a long sub-woofer, these speakers sound great. When watching DVD movies such as the Matrix and Wild Wild West, the sound rocks.
The SoundWorks Digital speakers has the usual sub-woofer and two satellites. It also has a volume control that plugs into the sub-woofer but with Velcro can be attached to anything (I attached mine to the side of one of the satellites). It has a full complements of inputs including the Sony S/PDIF digital input. If you have the appropriate Creative sound card, the SoundWorks Digital also provides an extra bracket that plugs into your sound card and provides the S/PDIF output from your sound card.
Using the S/PDIF connector or the normal analog connector, the sound was clear. While there are definitely higher quality speaker sets, for the price, the SoundWorks Digital is a great value.
