Ease of Use:
Pros:Light weight, nice features, competitive pricing
Cons:Bad pixel, poor DVD performance
I just picked up a 1700 series from Costco the other day. I like the light weight and sleek design. The pricing is also quite competitive compared to other makers and models of comparable features.
Besides playing a few DVD's, I haven't really used it that much. However, I noticed that when I run the DVD, after about an hr into the movie, the frame rate would start to slow down with very jerky motion. It is like the movie is skipping frames. Oftentimes, the cursor would not disappear from the widescreen movie mode. After I restart the DVD program, the frame rate would be okay, but then the voice track would run a second ahead of the video track. It is just wired. I think I should check with Compaq support on this. It happened on two movies so far. BTW, I also have one bad pixel on the screen :-(
