Well, for a scanner that costs less than a hundred dollars, I figured I would give it a shot. Agfa is a good product overall, so I assumed this scanner would be decent quality. Thankfully, I haven't been disappointed yet.
When I first got the package, I opened it up and read through the installation instructions. Rather easy to install, but the only bad point about it was the cable they supplied. It is extremely short, so I had to do some major rearranging to get the scanner right next to my desktower unit. It's a lightweight product, which is good, also.
Installing the software was a bit confusing. The included CD's have FotoSnap and FotoLook, and I'm still not sure what the difference is between the two. There was also another included, called Scanwise, which is much easier to use out of all the programs. My version (which I got from AOL) came with 6 cd's total, with a plethoria of programs. So even just for the programs it was worth the price.
I have scanned about ten items so far, mostly computer game packages for auctions, and they have come out quite good. Not perfect, but then again, I didn't pay $300 for the scanner, only about $80.
I think anyone wanting just a basic scanner would do great with this product. And it has an adjustable cover, so that larger items are still covered. The backing on the lid is black, instead of white, which I think is great. I've used other scanners that had a white backing, and if you got a mark on it, it always showed up. I don't think that will happen with the black on.
Overall, it's a great product for the price, perfect for someone who wants a scanner to do decent quality work, but without the huge expense that some scanners cost.
