HP Pavilion 9600

Feb 27 '00

I recently purchased a customized HP Pavilion 9600 PC from HP's web site and have nothing but praise to say about this computer. First, I configured the system with a 500 MHz Pentium III processor, 128 MB RAM, 32 MB Nvidia Graphics Card, 15 GB Hard Drive, 40x CD-ROM Drive, and a 100 MB Zip Drive. The price after the $400 CompuServe rebate was only $699. I ordered the computer by phone and the process was very quick and simple. The computer arrived through Federal Express in exactly nine days. Setup was extremely easy. The keyboard with this system is incredible with true one-touch Internet access and other features like shortcut buttons and volume control. The mouse and speakers are also of premium quality. The computer itself is extremely fast and amazingly quiet. I can hardly tell that it is on from several feet away. The only problem that I have encountered with this computer has been low system resources. I found out that the problem was being caused by the plethora of programs that the computer runs at start up. I quickly fixed this problem by disabling some of these programs through msconfig. This system is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone.
