| amt620's Full Review: Dell Latitude CPt |
I recently purchased a Dell Latitude CPt and must say I wasn't too impressed. The laptop was purchased to replace a Sony VAIO (PCG-812). Though the Latitude has great speed and efficency, I did have some hardware problems. Ever since I recieved the laptop, I have been having trouble with its 56k modem. The modem would dial up to the internet (tested with AOL), but soon, sometimes after 2 minutes and sometimes after an hour, would sign off. I called Dell's technical support (which is a very good service) and they sent someone over to fix it for free. Though the modem doesn't sign me off frequently anymore, it does happen (but very rarely).
Another annoying aspect is that I can only use one drive at a time (either the floppy or cd-rom). If I want to use both, I cannot use the printer (becuase the drive attaches to the printer port). Because this problem can be found in many laptops, I won't complain. It is what we have to live with for the added feature of portabilty.
Overall, I would have to say this is an excellent laptop. The speed and efficency is wonderful, the style is nice, and so far, everything has been working properly (besides the modem).
