Ahhh...the magic of Epinions.com.
Every once in awhile a review will lead to a nugget of information that will have you standing at your computer screen and yelling BRAVO.
Why?
Because after hours of reading reviews on movies, books and cell phones - you've stumbled across something that is incredibly useful. Let me rephrase that for your screen....INCREDIBLY USEFUL.
The product? GuruNet. A three minute free download at www.gurunet.com that will have you asking yourself "why didn't I know about this earlier?"
Okay...so you may be wondering why I'm raving about this particular product. I know...I know. You've read about so many free downloads that you immediately become suspect when you hear of yet another. I'm the same way....call me Mr. Skeptic. Skeptic....hmmmm - is that word spelled correctly? Well....I just right clicked on the word I typed...and up popped the GuruNet dialog box. That small, unobtrusive dialog box proceeded to tell me that the world skeptic could also be spelled sceptic. And it tells me that the definition of the word is "one who habitually or instinctively doubts or questions". You see, that's the magic of GuruNet.
No scrambling for the dictionary....no worrying that my latest review will vanish from the screen while I ponder the appropriate word and it's meaning. No looking around for the Thesaurus anymore. The same dialog box that told me the two correct spellings also told me that the Third Edition of Roget's Thesaurus offers up the following words as substitutes for skeptic: doubter, unbeliever, non-believer, doubting Thomas.
Are you following me so far on this? As long as you are connected to the internet....you are a right click away from an incredible wealth of information once you've downloaded this software. It's really a terrific piece of intelligent design and functionality. In fact, when you jump over to the site for the download (and you ARE going to - aren't you?)....you can read all the glowing press clippings from both technical and mainstream writers.
That's not enough to convince you to download it? Well - in answer to your potential next question: No...it doesn't interfere with any of the Big Three browsers. It works with AOL...Internet Explorer...and Netscape seamlessly. And it offers up another nifty feature (called Search) that allows you to access more information about any item you right click on via a number of internet links. Oh...and it even offers to translate the word (or phrase) you've just typed.... into German, French, Italian and Spanish. To wit - the word seamless is senza cuciture in Italian. You'll find yourself right clicking away and impressing your colleagues with your newly found ability to speak certain words in a foreign language.
I assume you've left this review by now to head right over to the download site. But if you haven't yet...why not?
This is one of the most incredibly useful pieces of software EVER designed. If you're a writer....or want to be a better one.....you'll soon realize you can't live without this tool as you craft your next epinion.
It REALLY is that good.
