| jgold1's Full Review: Creative Labs Video Blaster WebCam 3 |
I recently purchased a Video Blaster WebCam3. I chose this particular product because my son had one and I knew it would be compatible. I ordered my WebCam3 over the internet, directly from the Creative company internet store. I was extremely pleased when I received it the very next day! However, I wasn't so pleased when I went back to their website and discovered that it was $20 cheaper than the day before when I had purchased mine. I called to request a rebate and was turned down flat. I was very disappointed in their company policy in this regard.
Then the real fun started. I installed it and nothing happened except a message that it wasn't installed correctly and therefore I couldn't use it. I finally called Creative and spent over an hour on the phone with them, at my expense. They didn't have a toll free number to call. They were very friendly, very patient and helped tremendously to install my webcam and it worked fine.
I like the camera. It seems to work as well as any other that I've seen. I feel, however, that they need to provide written instructions for dealing with problems associated with installing the webcam on older computers, which I think was the problem I was having. My son apparently didn't have these problems on his much newer computer.
The bottom line is that I have mixed feelings about this product. I didn't care for their policy on pricing. I didn't care for the problems I had installing it. But, I feel that it's a good camera once I got beyond the barriers.
