The CoolPad: Keepin' it cool
Written: May 20 '00 (Updated Jan 18 '01)
Pros:Simple, very effective
Cons:A little expensive
For any of you out there who own a PowerBook (or a portable space heater as I affectionately think of it) you know that it can get very hot. Hot can be good, but not when it is the bottom of your laptop. I found the solution to this problem!! It is 2 cool little, unassuming pieces of plastic. The CoolPad, made by RoadTools (www.roadtools.com) is two pieces of plastic with a connection in the middle. This allows the top piece and bottom piece to rotate independently. Each of the pieces of plastic have rubber bumps on them that elevate the computer from the pad and the pad from the table. (A little difficult to describe). Take a look at the picture on the website and it will be clearer. Point being that this thing really works. I was skeptical at first but after running my PowerBook for 8 hours straight and then feeling the bottom of it I was amazed at how much cooler it was than before I had the CoolPad.
If you have a laptop that runs hot I recommend the CoolPad to you.
