I bought my Gateway in Feb. of 1999. I went online, picked out exactly what I wanted, from software to monitor size and everything in between. I ordered it on monday afternoon and I had it UPS on wed. evening. I unpacked it, set it up and was off and running. The next day I noticed a problem with cd-rom, so I called and had no problem getting customer support. They ran me through a couple of things over the phone and when it still wouldn't work, they shipped me a new one. When the new one arrived, I called them and they walked me through putting it in.(I know it is easy, but hey I was new to the puter). I have called them several more times and they are always polite and if they don't have an answer, they will find someone who does. They even walked me through installing a scanner(different make) when I couldn't get through to the manufacturers. They did not have to do this. I have gone online and asked a few questions and always get a prompt reply.
Now for the computer itself. I love it. My sister and mother-in-law both bought Gateways(and neither have had any problems either). I played around on theirs for awhile and decided I wanted one too. It was so easy to order. I went into the site, clicked what I wanted, it gave me a price, whoops-went over my limit-go back change a few things and check price again. Bingo! I was able to pick how much memory I wanted, what size monitor, if I wanted a printer with it, the whole kit-n-kaboodle. I was paying cash, so I called the 800# and told them what I wanted and like I said, within 2 days had it at my door. I don't see myself having anything but a Gateway now.
