Make slideshows that play on RealPlayer! Free download from Real.com. Software is RealSlideshow Basic (hereafter RSS). There is also a version for sale, with more features. This is why it is awesome:
1. Number one, the streaming feature. Photos and audio take forever to download from the Internet, especially with a phone line. RealSlideshows can be "streamed" to a computer, so you see part of the show while the upcoming part is loading. Same technology that lets you hear radio over the net. Some companies will host streaming files for free, such as PhotoPoint.
2. Second, it is incredibly easy to use. You click and drag image files (usually JPEG) into the software window. You can crop them in RSS and rearrange the order.
3. You have two audio tracks. One is continuous "background music", which you can record directly from CD or import as a WAV file. The other is audio "captions." You can record (or import WAVs) comments individually for each photo. All you need is a microphone.
4. The program makes slide shows up to 8 minutes long. The enhanced version allows text (and hyperlinks) on the images, as well as other features.
5. A sister program RealPresenter lets you stream PowerPoint files over the net. No more downloading!
Real.com has a winner with this fine program.
