DirectCD is one of the greatest programs when it comes to burning CDs. This program, which is usually packaged with EasyCD creator, is also made by Adaptec. Adaptec is revolutionizing the CD burning market with these 2 new programs.

DirectCD is a program that sets up your cd writing or rewriting drive as a floppy drive like device. The program uses updated drivers to leave access to your cd just like a hard drive. If you want to save a document from any common program you can open the drive in the save menu, just like any disk. You can also drag and drop files to and from the cd, and if it is a rewritable drive it can be erased or updated just as any other file.

Now even though this program seems like a good idea, you might not want to run out and buy it right away. Often there are a few incompatibilities and you may have to download new drivers for the cdrw drive. I had found the second scenario my result. It was fairly easy to find and install the drivers, but still a pain. The other fallback of this program is that it stays on all the time, causing a significant amount of memory slow-downs on my 32mb of ram. If you are not running a lot of programs or have more ram you will definetly be ok.
