I can't speak for others, but I'm guessing that you share the same
concerns as I do when it comes to choosing a PC or any product that you are investing your money and time in.
In reality, it should be a pleasure when we can go into a store, lay down some cash, write a check, walk out with our new PC, take it home where we then hook it up and we have the machine that "Works"! No problems, no surprises! We are so full of joy after having plopped down our hard earned money in order to get a PC, a machine that will work for us,
one that will do what the manufacturers tell us that it will do!
We would be contented, not feel cheated and would have a product that was well worth the money we had just invested!
Wouldn't that be wonderful?
Now, this is what I will call the flip-side of that lucky coin....
We go into a store, decide on a PC, lay your hard earned money on the
counter and walk away with a machine you "hope-and-pray-will-work-when-you-get-it-home"! And you may feel true concern that something may be wrong when you get it home and unpack it or soon after. Now you don't want to go through the trouble of packing all of the components back up in that box if something is wrong, but what choice do you have? I have been there friends. I call this frame of mind when purchasing a new PC the "Lemon Jitters"..... No I really have!
Now I just know that some may be wondering when I will get on with my
opinion, and so with that in mind, here I go...
I purchased this machine back in May of this year and it is now September. As of this date, I have not had one single problem with this computer. Now I could not say that about any of the other computers I have owned in the past. And I will go ahead and say it, an e-machine
is the brand that has given me the most of my grief.
Before I made this purchase, I had never even used an HP and was more than a little leary due to that fact alone. I was swayed to go with HP
simply because I have a niece who uses only HP PC's, and she had
never had any trouble with the her particular systems.
My reason for purchasing a PC in the first place was due to the fact that My IBM had dropped out on me, I was not surprised, (it was an Aptiva E series older model).
My 6643 came with a monitor and the total price with tax included was only around 780.00. This desktop PC also uses
a celeron processor and comes with 64 meg of ram.
The tower size took a little getting used to since it is considerably smaller when compared with my extinct Aptiva E-26 of a few years ago.
I was really pleased when I hooked it up. I know a little about computers, however, I am by no means a pro, but no person would need to be computer savvy to set one of these up.... simple.
Anyone that needs a good, reliable PC for home use would benefit from choosing a HP. Seems pretty fast to me, although speed is very important to me, what is more important is how reliable the machine is. I haven't
had to worry about my HP being "buggy" or the blue screen striking at the
most innoportune time! In fact, the blue screen has not stuck except when
we experienced a thunderstorm and the electricity went off.
Being a student, reliability is very important to me.
I have a wonderful care-free time when surfing the internet. Speed is okay
and I feel no need to upgrade and add more ram in the least. I have several programs that I have added to my computer with no ill effects.
Software bundle: it was ok, and included Microsoft Encarta 2000, Microsoft Money, Microsoft Works and Quicken 2000.
But you know what is the best part of my having chose this PC as of this
opinion to you all?
The restore disk is still sealed.
