My husband and I decided to use AT&T mainly because it was all we could find when we were looking. But we haven't had any problems with it at all.
We have unlimited access for $21.95 a month which is an average price. We have several numbers to choose from to get the best connection. We have never had a busy signal, never been bumped off because of something on their side and never been overcharged at all. The charge is on our monthly phone bill and we pay it along with the rest.
If there is something I don't like, it's this. I can't log onto their homepage from a computer outside my home, i.e. school, work, where we're on a network. If I want to try to check my mail from anywhere other than my house, I can't log on because it recognizes that I'm dialing in through another number. This is my guess. Sometimes, I'd like to check my mail when I'm going to be at work for an unexpected amount of time and want to see who's e-mailed me if I'm expecting something.
Other than that, I can't see any other problem with them. I've called a few times in the beginning to ask about setting my computer up and such and everyone's been really friendly and don't mind asking those same questions again and again.
If you want to use the internet and already have AT&T as your long distance, go for it. They have plans for smaller increments of time, if you don't want to pay for unlimited.
