I'll admit it, I'm into webcams and all of the related technology. One of the simplest yet biggest problems with webcams is the cable length limitation. Most webcams end up being stuck within 16' of the computer. Great for a desk but not so good for elsewhere at your location. Then the wireless XCam came along - WOW, what a good idea.
Well the Xcam arrived and I tore it out of the box. Hooked it up to a TV in our office and ran around trying it in different rooms. The wireless connection was amazing - it really works well. No static and it provides full motion color video plus audio!! The range seemed excellent and I got mine to work up to 100'. The picture quality was quite good and this seemed to be the best thing since sliced bread. Then I took it home....
The minute I got the XCam setup at home I was disappointed. Unlike the office I don't have big fluorescent light panels everywhere - just normal house lighting. The image quality was TERRIBLE! In medium to low light conditions the picture is unusable (very dark and blurry). WOW! I was so disappointed. This camera had solved the cable issue and could be put anywhere but the performance is terrible. Unless the XCam is revised I cannot recommend it.
