to anyone considering buying an HP or other top-of-the-line CDRW, i just have one question: WHY?? this philips CDRW is every bit as good and reliable as an HP, and costs considerably less. i should know, i have an HP at work. i can tell no difference between the two in speed, noise, or reliability, and the software is the same (adaptec and directcd) but i could tell the difference in price - about $50 difference (that would buy a lot of blank CDR's). i usually don't shop for expensive brand names, so i have some experience in buying "second tier" products. this is one product that meets all of the expectations of a top-of-the-line CDRW.
