I've been a member of My Points for about 8 months now. I visit the site about once a week, and I've accumulated a little over 3000 points so far. I have yet to turn them in, because I haven't decided what I want get yet, so I'm just letting them accumulate.
My Points is a points program that rewards you for things such as:
*Taking Surveys
*Visiting Websites
*Trying out new products/services
*Online Shopping
The way to get the maximum amount of points is through online shopping. I do not happen to be one that shops on the internet, so my points have accumulated more slowly than others. But, the good part it - it is not a requirement. There are many ways you can still earn points and it not cost you a dime.
Taking Surveys - There usually aren't very many surveys to take. But every once in a while, you'll get anywhere between 50-100 points for filling one out.
Visiting Websites - This can usually keep you pretty busy all by itself. There are always plenty of websites to visit. Some have restrictions - you can only visit once, once a month, or once a week - but there is usually always something there you can click on and take a look at.
Trying New Products - Sometimes free, sometimes not. But I have downloaded a few programs to try out and received quite a few points for it. The disadvantage to some of these is that it takes quite a while (a week or two) for your points to show up.
Online Shopping - Again, not something I have taken advantage of. But I believe they give 1 point per dollar spent, and they have a lot of sponsoring companies to choose from.
They also have a Bonus Mail program, so you can earn points without having to visit their site. They send you an email for a special offer that you can decide whether or not to take advantage of, but you'll at least always get 10 points for reading the email.
And, another thing good for a person like me, who signs up for too many things and can never remember which ID goes with which password, My Points uses cookies, so it recognizes you right away when you log on.
As far as the "prizes" go - there are so many things to choose from you can redeem your points for. Gift certificates, movie packages - and if you really have a lot of time to save your points - vacation cruises!
Your points accumulate and do not expire for 3 years from the time you start, so you have plenty of time to just save, save, save - and get something you really want :)
