It's a Gateway Country.Aug 18 '00 Write an essay on this topic.Ladies and gentlemen, the time is now. By now you should have a Gateway Country store somewhere close to you. These stores, at least the one near me, made shopping for a computer that much easier. The Gateway Country store was the last spot on my list for shopping when it should've been the first. First of all, I'm tired of mail order this and 800 line that. Show me the computer. That's what they did, I got to go in and browse around in a now pressure environment, and if I had questions, no problem. The sales staff was more than computer literate. I even threw out some questions that the average joe wouldn't know and they did. Example... How many volts of electricity does it take to destroy a computer part? Answer: Static electricity you feel is 3,000 volts, static electricity that you see is 20,000 volts, to destroy a cpu or modem, etc. it takes only 30 volts. That's why surges kill so many computers. Anyways, I think that proves that these guys have knowledge about the product. Second, gone are the days of mailing your system out to another state for repair, most of these stores are outfitted with an in-store repair center. I got to speak to a technician, because the day I was there it was their "ask a technician day". I don't recall any other store or dealer with an ask a tech day. Repair centers local, big plus. And finally, even though I didn't leave with the computer I purchased, it was worth the wait. The service alone made me forget about that, but setting it up was easier than ever. Now I'm no slouch when it comes to computers, I repair them for people and myself, but incase you aren't as into it as me, there's a chart in the box that shows how to do it. Easy to read, and simple to see, green with green, blue with blue. Simple, just like ABC's. In closing, I was extremely satisfied with my experience. My experience wasn't even to really buy a computer, just to shop around and see who's really better. In the end at this Gateway Country store, my experience is just beginning, not ending as I found out that the other dealers didn't give a damn about what happened after I bought a system. |
