Pros:Great graphics, excellent response, great sound, it's only $20!
Cons:It IS first generation,,, GT2 is available if you can part with the extra coin
Yes,,, I know GT is an older Sony PSX game,,, but we finally buckled in and got Playstation for our kids for Xmas when we determined we were tired of trying to hunt down Sega Genesis games anymore.
I've always liked playing racing and driving simulation games in the past,, but the excitement only lasts for an hour or two and then I'm tired of them since they aren't very "real feeling". While you'll never replace the feel of driving a real car at the edge with a video game,, I'm willing to say that this game is as close as I've come yet.
The night that we hooked up the Playstation, I was hooked. I did run out to buy a handheld steering wheel controller the next day, and that was all she wrote for me for that evening,, and morning too,,, I started playing in simulation mode around 8 pm on Thursday evening and didn't get to bed until I had built myself the fastest Toyota Supra I could (which was around 430 am Friday morning,,, *grin*)
The game offers superb graphics, good sound effects and music, and the cars respond like the real things. When it first came out, GT was priced around $44.95, which would have been a bargain in my eyes,,, but now, with the release of GT2, the price has been dropped to $19.95,, a STEAL for anyone who, like us, is "catching up" to the modern world of video games (Yes, yes, yes,,, I know,,, Playstation II is coming out soon,,,but remember,,we were living with Genesis 2 weeks ago.)
If you don't have GT yet,,, and don't want to spend the $44.95 on GT2,,, get this game!!
