| muy's Full Review: Dell Inspiron 5000 R500LO |
Hello. I'm an MIS Coordinator and graphic designer, so my decision to buy a Dell 5000 came with a lot of research to make sure the computer could meet my needs.
I purchased a Dell computer, specifically, after researching user reviews and computer magazine reviews regarding the support offered by Dell and other companies and the features offered. I chose Dell as the brand because of its high reputation for support and quality.
I bought *this* Dell model, specifically, because I found it through a classifieds ad for $1,000 less than the high price of buying the laptop direct from Dell. If I had the money to purchase *any* laptop, I probably would've gone with the 7500 model.
Now, though, I am glad I purchased this model, because it's as powerful as a 7500 but lighter. The screen size of my model is 14" (not 15" like the 7500) but still looks large to me. It's truly a desktop replacement notebook.
The main thing that bothers me about the 5000 is the default 6 Gb of hard drive, since my previous 2-year old computer had more than that. The volume control on the laptop isn't great, either, especially when playing DVDs.
Otherwise, I'm extremely happy with this purchase. If you're looking to replace your desktop computer, don't mind the near-$3,000 price tag, and want something light but powerful, give this Dell model your consideration.
