Pros:Small, easy to set up, good quality picture for the price
Cons:Maybe a bit pricey
The Bottom Line: Great picture quality, works well under every lighting condition, and it's easy to set up and install. What more do you want?

As visitors to my website know, I've been doing the webcam thing for a little while now. I had a Logitech cam going for a few months, and although it did the trick as far as getting a picture of me online went, it wasn't really all that great a picture: bad in low light, not terribly clear, and so on.

When the time came to get a better cam, I visited everyone's favorite review site and asked my fellow Epinion writers for their, uh, opinion. It seemed that this little 3Com camera was a good choice, so I plunked down my $200 (Canadian, eh) and took it home.

And you know, these Epinion people were right on the money. The 3com camera installs easily via USB (Windows 98 picked it up right away, and the install software that came with the cam on CD was a breeze to get going) and the picture quality is much better than my old Logitech thing was putting out. It performs nicely in low light conditions, and is nowhere near as blurry as what I'm used to. It's also got a pretty good size cord, ten feet or so, which means I can put it most anywhere I like.

Here's a disclaimer: I've only used the cam as a webcam, and have only used it with the Spycam software package. I have NOT used it with the software that came on the CD to make movies and take pictures and stuff, so I can't speak for those programs.

However, I can honestly say that, so far, I'm quite pleased with this new little camera of mine. If you want an example of the image quality it puts out, try http://www.danwalker.ca/webcam.html ... I'll try to keep something worthwhile up there for you to look at.

Thank you, Epinions! You helped me make the right choice.
