| philippevd's Full Review: Agfa SnapScan 1212p Flatbed Scanner |
As a beta tester for this product, I was quite surprised by the quality of the image that came out of this scanner. Although it is quite slow (on higher resolution scans), the most important feature of the scanner, which is quality, remains number 1. Compared to many other low-end scanners of this price range, I would definitely choose the snapscan as my pick. To me, the speed comes in second, because I don't use this scanner professionally. Then again, this IS a scanner ment for home use; and it perfectly fits the according needs.
The software that comes with the scanner is indeed somewhat too limited. It can really only be used for getting the images and some general re-touching to the picture. The software is easy to use, and should really satisfy most users with no specific needs. Third party software can always be used for extra work on the images.
The scanner is easy to install, as well as the software that comes with it. I have used it on both my macintosh and PC, and have had no problems whatsoever using it. It is also a smaller model, compared to other scanners. It fits well on a desktop.
This is a great scanner for anyone who needs professional quality at a low price. Great value.
