| larrys5's Full Review: Eclipse Internet Access |
I had Eclipse dial-up service for approximately 18 months and NEVER had the problems I hear everyone moan about with the big boys. I obtained flat rate $4.95 per month service from my phone company and Eclipse provided around 6 local numbers!!! So my phone bill for internet access was $4.95 every month regardless of my hours. Service is $18.95 per month and Set up fee (installation) is $25.00. I always made an immediate connection and the handful of times I could not connect I simply put in another number of the list and got right up. Their tech/support department is excellent and well schooled in correct Customer Service protocol. Most reps were willing to address issuse outside the parameters of Eclipse service...all helpful and knowledgeable. The home page is the usually stuff, probably not exciting enough for kids who want AOL circus decorations and advertising, etc. Eclipse is much more low key and filters out a lot of the web waste garbage. The search engine is typical like all the big boys...not really a search engine but a directory of the highest paid advertisers. How I hate that! Although they do have enough good directory links to keep you surfing productively for the rest of your life.
********For a real good search engine go to www.dogpile.com - you can ALWAYS get true searches there!
I gave up Eclipse because I upgraded to Cable modem from @Home (*** Read my review on @Home ***). A friend recommended Eclipse to me and I've referred them to others and haven't heard any complaints. If I didnt have cable I would go back to Eclipse BUT I might kill myself before regressing back to dial-up after the speed of cable! Thanks - boy I love getting my rocks off like this!
