Pros: it does what it says it will
Cons: free trial includes 20 sec wait before you can use the program, and not as good as Q-paint

| that's Full Review: Arcosoft SketchPad |
I am writing on the free download version of Arcosoft’s sketchpad. I have no idea how the full version is like because I don’t think that I would pay for this program based on the demo alone.
I wanted to a paint-like program for my palm so that I could jot down quick notes in my palm without having to get the graffiti working since I always seem to make mistakes on graffiti and it just takes a long time. I felt it would just be easier if I’m on the go to get a quick pad-like application for things to do or who to call or a friend’s phone number.
So my first stop was actually epinions to see what applications are out there that I could download (as well as write an epinion on!). Well, after looking around I found that there was Q-paint/draw as well as Arcosoft Sketchpad. The first one I tried was Q-paint (see review) and today I downloaded Arcosoft’s Sketchpad. My review will be a compare and contrast between the two.
The Good
The sketchpad is a paint-like application. It offers two options draw and erase. It does what it says it would; as a sketchpad you really don’t need the ability to make perfect squares or circles like in paint.
There is the added bonus of being able to animate your images. So this is odd because its supposed to be used as just a sketchpad (I assume since they don’t offer more advanced options such as rectangle or circle or even fill) yet they offer the choice to animate your freehand drawings. I guess you could import your images from other applications and then animate those. I don’t think I’ll ever use this option, but it is a nice plus.
Well sad as it seems that’s all I can really think of as a plus for this program.
The Bad
Of course since this is just a free trial download there has to be something in order for you to use it and not have to pay. In this case it’s a screen that counts down 20 seconds before you can use the program. Now this just totally defeated my purpose of getting a sketch program since I wanted to quickly jot down notes. So I hated this aspect of it. Of course once you pay for the application then you enter the code that it;s waiting for you to enter and I assume (or at least hope) that you never have to enter it again.
There isn’t much else you can do with this application. There are a lot less options than on Q-paint. On Q-paint (which is also free) you are allowed to draw squares, lines and circles, fill and write text. There are also different line widths in Q-paint (three to be exact) where in sketchpad you have only one. In the end sketchpad just does so little compared to what Q-paint can do and you don’t have to wait for Q-paint the way you have to wait for sketchpad.
Overall
Unfortunately there isn’t much to say about these rather simple applications so this review might seem rather small, but this is what I think between these two applications. There is just much more that you can do and use with the Q-paint sketchpad versus the Arcosoft sketchpad, and you don’t have to wait twenty seconds before you can use Q-paint. The only thing that Arcosoft’s sketchpad can do that Q-paint can’t is animate. If this is something that you are looking for then I guess your only option would be Arcosoft’s sketchpad. But if you’re just looking for a paint-like application then hands down it’s Q-paint.
What Arcosoft’s Sketchpad offers
Options: Draw (only pencil) and Erase (only one thickness, which is the same as the pencil). Clear all. Details (which offers you to file the drawing or to make it private or to completely delete the image). Go (which I assume allows you to go to any other drawing you may have). You can also do all the normal cut, paste, undo, copy, select all. You can also copy the whole sketch and paste the sketch. And lastly the animate option.
Once again Q-paint offers all these and more (such as select, I have no idea how you’re supposed to select anything on Arcosoft’s), besides the animate option.
That’s all I can think of for now. Thanks for reading!
