Still Going After Over Two Years

I am the proud owner of a G6-233 pentium II that I bought well over two years ago. The best part about it is not only does it still provide great performance...gateway continues to provide tech/replacement support.
Over all I have been very happy with the system...PII 233, 128 meg Ram 4 Gig Hd, and a great STB Velocity 128 AGP. While this might seem slow compared to some systems these days I am still very happy with its use.
The past 2 plus years have had their moments of "Gateway Hell" though. When I first got the system the power button was broken....not a good sign...how did it pass QA? Well after 2 weeks that issuse got resolved and I was fine for about a year....then I had my EV700 die on me...it took two replacements that time to be up and running again. Finally (just weeks again) I had my speakers blowout...and surprisingly after more than two years not only did they replace them...they upgraded to big time...(read my epinion about BA 7500's).
The major negative about all these experiences is the time it took to get the issues resolved. You have to hold for at least 30 to 40 minutes to get to a tech support person. Then you have to do their troubleshooting (listen for manual page turns in the background..hehehe) before they are willing to do the right thing and replace the faulty part.
For the most part I have throughly enjoyed my computer and dealing with Gateway has just been a nessesary evil. I still would buy another Gateway and recommend them to others.
