Great Machine; Terrible Service

I purchased a Sharp A-250 from Harmony Computer in New York; they had a good price and quick delivery, and I was very satisfied.
I really like the Sharp Actius A-250; very nice screen; reasonably fast and a real eye-catcher; also the light weight and built-in ethernet is an advantage, as I have cable access.
However, shortly after getting the machine, the exteranl floppy disk drive broke; it simply would not read at all; just sat there and clicked at me! This happened while overseas in France on assignment. I called Sharp service; what a hassle! First of all, they wanted not only the floppy back, but also the portable. I protested. The portable worked just fine; no need to send it. And I really had to have it. Since the floppy suffered a mechanical failure,it seemed clear to me that a replacement was in order. Finally they agreed, and from France, I sent the floppy drive to Illinois. However, they refused to send it back to me in France; they send only to the address of purchase: Florida. Very convenient! So I had to have it fowarded from Florida to France. When I got the unit back, and despite the work order saying it was a replacement, it was the original (I had marked it) and IT WAS STILL BROKEN.
So, yes it's a great machine. But if ever you need service, I'm afraid you are not in luck: their service is 0/100.
