Like most people reviewing this product, I needed file storage that was reliable, convenient and inexpensive. Zip drives were definitely reliable, but the disks were terribly expensive and held much less.
When I finally decided to upgrade to a CD writer, I researched all the popular models and decided that the hands down winner for best value and features was Hewlett Packard. I went out and purchased the HP-9350i and here is my experience and review of the product.
Nice Features and Extras
The first thing that I loved about the 9350i was the extensive software package that came bundled with the CD writer. The software included CD creation, Fast Format, MusicMatch Jukebox, Simple Backup, CD Labeler, Corel Print Office 2000, and finally Deluxe Multimedia Organizer. I primarily use the fast format and simple backup features, but I also love the MusicMatch software. It makes organizing and downloading all my MP3's a lot easier.
Second, this CD writer is fast and will burn CD's quickly. With 10x Write, 4x ReWrite, and 32x Read, this device is one of the best and fastest machines available. I have friends that bought other brands with similar speeds, but they constantly tell me that their CD writers get constant errors when burning. I have only had a few errors with the 9350i.
Another great thing about this internal CD Writer is that it was a snap to set up and use. Because I am a novice when it comes to installing hardware, I was terrified of actually opening my computer and installing this CD Writer. The instructions walk you through step by step and you'll be set up in no time. I was still sweating bricks the entire time. :)
My One Complaint
My one complaint was the availability of customer service. I was on hold for almost one hour before I got an actual voice. Despite my wait, the technical support staff was knowledgeable and friendly. She was patient with all my questions and didn't rush me.
Final Verdict
Hewlett-Packard makes an excellent CD writer product and you cannot go wrong with the 9350i model. Many competitors offers cheaper CD writers, but they often fail to perform as well as most HP CD writers. Now that I have my entire hard drive on just 10 CDs, I can rest assured that my files are safe.
