Yes, I bought a brand new, retail version of the Sound Blaster Live Platinum 5.1 for ninety dollars. I enjoy finding the best possible price on products, but I don't stop there. After I find the best possible price, I take the add to a different local retail merchant who is willing to beat the price. In this case, I found the card advertised for $149.99 plus a $50.00 instant rebate at Comp USA. I then walked over to Circuit City who was selling the card for $199.99. They beat the lowest advertised price by 10%. They only needed to see the advertisement and verify available stock, before courteously selling the card to me at the discounted price.

I was not even shopping for this card when I stumbled upon it. I already own a Sound Blaster Live Value Card, which I am very happy with, but I liked the live drive and remote control idea so I couldn't pass this deal up.

The software package is bountiful. I love playing games and this package came with some great ones. Unreal Tournament, MDK2, Thief 2 and Deux EX are all excellent games that came with this card. Plenty of other programs came with the card also, Mixman Studio, Mixmeister, Cubasis VST, and Creative Play Center 2 are just a few that help you realize the capabilities of this card.

My computer is ready to be integrated into my home entertainment system now. With the remote control, I can kick back and listen to mp3's, CD's, DVD's or any other type of media possible on a computer.

The installation went smooth and I am very happy with my new Sound Blaster Live Platinum 5.1.
