Gurunet is a small (730KB in size) desktop application. It can be used to look up information while browsing. What kind of information? Here are some examples:
Say you are browsing and you come across a word - puissance. If you anything like me you have no idea what it means. You simply hold down your 'alt' button on the keyboard and then click on the word. POP! comes up gurunet. It gives you the meaning, similar words, translation to German, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Russian, and Greek, books available with that word. More than you asked for.
Another example is when you browsing through a financial site and come across a company you need more information on. Simply follow the alt-click step and pop comes the gurunet with pretty much everything about the company. Here is what I found fascinating about the application. When I clicked on 'Apple' (as in apple computer) it differentiated it from the fruit!
You are on a travel site and planning a trip to Chicago, do the alt-click and up comes the weather forecast for Chicago.
The company has come up with new features since. This has been the greatest thing I've ever received, for free!
