The main problem with the Handspring is you cannot get one. Right now demand is far more than supply and you have to wait 6 weeks after you order to get a Handspring. It is a great looking device and it has added some nice features to the Palm Platform such as the add on slot but I would wait. Besides the huge wait I have other concerns.
First, anytime a company falls that far behind in shipping orders they are under tremendous pressure just to ship as many units as they can as fast as they can. Quality normally suffers as a result and many people I know who bought a Handspring have had them arrive DOA.
Second, the company has terrible tech support right now. This is also because they are growing faster than they can handle. If anything arrives broken or if you have a question it could be a long long time before you talk to any one about it.
Third, the Handspring devices are made from much lower quality materials than other Palm devices. The plastic is a much lower quality and I have already managed to scratch the screen, something I have not been able to do to my original Palm Pilot after 2 years.
Fourth: The Springboard expansion slot is great but there are only two expansion devices right now.
Overall: This is a great device with a more features and a better price than most Palm OS PDAs. However, wait for a while until they fix their production and tech support problems. Also more add on cards will be available soon which will make the Visor much more useful.
