| doughboy001's Full Review: Hi-Val 2X2X24EIDE CD-RW |
The quality of this cd-rw drive is definitely something to be desired. I bought one of these drives about a year ago and I was very disappointed with it. I bought it at a local computer store because of the relative inexpensive price tag. I really got a lesson in the saying that cheaper isn't always better.
When I first attempted connecting the drive to my PC I was not able to get the drive to read. I installed the drivers that came with the drive and it still acted weird. I then tried to record something onto a disk and I ended up wasting a number of perfectly good CD-R's. Even after I went to Hi-Val's website and downloaded a current drivers the drive still did not work correctly. You know that a product is worthless when you call the Customer Service Department and they tell you that you wasted your money on the drive and expressly tell you to take the drive back to where you got it and to buy another brand. I have purchased the Hi-Val blank Cd-R's and haven't really had any problem with them, but I would not recommend to any PC user to purchase one of these CD-rw's from Hi-Val or atleast this series.
