I have the SCSI version of this 8x recording machine. Of all the 8x cd recorders out there, you will find that Plextor produces the fastest and most stable. Additionally, they provide you with Adaptec's Easy CD Creator and a wonderful utility called the Plexmanager which greatly enhances your experience especially if you have a Plextor CD-Rom as well.

I highly recommend this drive. It is able to read the most scratched up cds that no other drives can read. It records faster than almost all other drives, and has been given numerous awards by PC rating magazines and guides.

The two drawbacks from this monster is the rewritability speed and the cd read speed. Whereas some companies are offering 4x rewriting, Plextor managed only to come out with a 2x one. I believe their newer version corrects this problem. Additionally, they offer only 20x reading whereas other companies offer 32x. However, Plextor's 20x outperforms many of the other companies 32x (who claim that it is capable of reaching this max, which it never does).

Overall, I believe this is a great product for the money. I have rarely produced any bad cds (never any buffer underruns) and have been completely satisfied with this purchase.
