| njymix's Full Review: Creative Labs 3D Blaster Banshee |
When I bought the Banshee, it was top of the line, graphic cards didn't get better. Now there are faster cards with larger memory capacities, but the Banshee still has some magic in it.
The Banshee is has 16 megabytes of RAM (Random Access Memory). Most higher end cards like GeForce, Annilator, and the upcoming Voodoo 5 carry 32 to 64 megs of RAM, but they also come with a $100 to $200 higher price tag. The average computer user doesn't need anywhere near that.
The Banshee is also very affordable. Don't pay over $100 for it, though. TigerDirect (www.tigerdirect.com), a mail-order catalogue offers it for around $35.
Creative Labs Banshee works well with the once revolutionary Voodoo 2 engine and it comes with software including Colorific, which changes gamma levels so the screen interface will adjust to the configuration whether it be for games, internet, or even picture editing. Also included in 3Deep which your gaming fan will like. The software has annoying screens that pop up every time you start your computer, but other than that, the Banshee's a winner.
