Speed is good when it works

I have had a cable modem for about one and a half years. Recently however, the service has started to become very bad. It started off with very good speed and the service was never down. However, now it seems like they can not handle all the people who have the service. It started off being down about one day per month and now its down as much as half of every month. I have called to complain many times and about half the time we land up not paying for the month because of the bad service. Now when its working its still slow because there are so many users. It can go from about 5 kilobites per second to 100 kilobites per second. However, with my 56k modem, I was able to download from 3 to 10 kilobites per second. This is very good for a 56k modem. With the modem my service was never down and was always good. I have thought about it and now am on cable on one and 56k on the other. I am currently thinking of going to 56k because they have such a better service. Speed shouldn't matter as much as reliability.
