I had a friend call me and tell me to download Microsoft net meeting. Ok, I did. Then he "called" me with his new 3com Home Connect web cam. COOL!! Here he was sitting in Alaska and I in Washington, and I could see and hear him. Then it really hit me - this call is not going to cost me anything. That's when I decided I also needed to have one of these gadgets. This camera has a USB interface which sets up flawlessly in a matter of moments. Install the software provided and you are ready to go in no time. It has a 9' USB cable, so you are able to move the camera to other places, which is really neat. This camera also claimed that it could adjust to very low light conditions. I've heard that claim before. I turned out all of the lights in the room except for a hall light. I could not believe it! You could still actually make out the image of what the camera was looking at. The image is fairly clear but a bit jumpy. This seems to be the case with most web cams though. It comes with a nice software bundle that allows you take still shots, make small movies, and send video e-mail. I currently have mine set up to push images to my web page every half-hour when it is not being used for other things. The price is a bit higher than all of the other web cams I looked at, but I am a firm believer of "you get what you pay for." If you are looking for a web cam, this is without a doubt the one to get.
