Atlas Micro Logistic, Inc. offers an online computer store where you can buy whatever type of computer you need or want with a very wide selection of peripherals and add-ons. The computer I am reviewing is their AS 9800 model with an AMD Athlon 1000MHz processor.
Processor
You can choose your processor speed for this model from the Athlon 650MHz up to 1000MHz. I chose to review the computer based on the 1000MHz processor so the price is a little higher than on the product specifications page. The price for this model with the 1000MHz processor is $2,309.00 not including shipping.
Motherboard and memory
The computer is packed with great features. It has the VIA KX-133 chipset on the motherboard and is AGP 4X compatible. The VIA KX-133 chipset is cutting edge technology designed to work with high speed Athlon processors. The motherboard also has an on-board ATA66 EIDE controller supporting up to 4 drives. This model ships with 256MB of PC100 SDRAM and is expandable to 512MB.
Video and sound
Atlas uses the NVidia GeForce 256 3D accelerator graphics card with 32MB of video RAM and this also supports the 10X DVD ROM included in this model. The sound is forged from the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! value sound card and is accompanied by the Altec Lansing ACS 54 speaker set. This speaker set includes 4 satellite speakers and a subwoofer.
Hard drive and DVD/CD
The hard drive is 30GB and is ATA66 compatible. Another good point of this hard drive is it has a 7200 RPM speed. The 7200 RPM speed is faster for booting and starting up programs than the older 5400 RPM drives. This combined with the ATA66 data transfer speed of 66.6 megabits per second make this a really good hard drive. As I already stated, they also include a 10X DVD ROM drive with this model. The 10X DVD also operates as a 36X CDROM.
Modem
Top off all of this with a name brand 56k modem and you've got one heck of a computer. This model uses the 3Com U.S. Robotics 56k V.90 PCI modem so there are no corners cut here. U.S. Robotics have been a household name in modems for a long time. Although I prefer the ISA version, this PCI modem is pretty good also.
Case and power
All of these fantastic features are packed into a Full-Tower ATX case with an AMD certified 300W power supply. The Full-Tower case is really great if you would like to add drives or other peripherals to your computer later on. They even include a Microsoft Intellimouse and a Windows multimedia keyboard in the package.
Warranty
Atlas Micro Logistic, Inc. also includes a 3 year parts and labor warranty and free technical support for their computers. This is a great buy and full of quality parts. I rate this company right up there with POGO computers. The price ($2,309.00) is actually not much more than if you were to buy the parts and build the computer yourself. The warranty more than makes up for the difference.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this is a great designed computer and uses reliable parts made to last. The cutting edge technology combined with solid, state-of-the-art peripherals makes this computer one to check out if you are thinking of buying a computer. As I stated in the beginning you can choose your Athlon processor from 650MHz - 1000MHz. This review is based on the 1000MHz processor. If you would like a lower cost computer, you can get the 650MHz with all the same features I reviewed here for $1,339.00. That is a great deal.
