| Nemmeran's Full Review: Alienware Area51Pentium 3 Desktop Computers |
This is, simply, the ultimate computer. I've had many computers in my past, and none were quite so well tuned as this one. Immediately after getting the box of my Area 51 and my ViewSonic P810, I hooked them up and played for an hour. Totally amazing performance. Everything was tuned to work perfectly. I previously owned a Compaq and I was getting 600ms or so pings on many online games, which totally disabled them, for all intents and purposes. When I got this PC, I was getting 200ms pings, making for great playability. They did something right in this computers configuration.
I decided to open the case up and see the intricate guts of this monster. I popped open the case, and.. WOW. all of the cables were tied together and tethered down, and it was neatly put together. This is the first time I have seen this done, instead of just slapping cards in a board with needed parts, and throwing it in a truck.
They offer a great selection of parts to mix and match your own system, according to needs. Also, you can choose from their pre-made systems, either way you get a great machine.
I cant tell you anything about tech support, because I have not had a single problem. They gave me a custom printed invoice with manuals and all, and even put my name on the computer in various places (in the case, even.) They even set up windows under my name! I get tired of being called 'Preferred Compaq Customer'.
The only problem is they are expensive, but, as I say, you pay for what you want!
Overall, its a GREAT system, perfect for serious gamers, professionals who need power, and anyone who wants to have the Ferrari of computers. For video editing and other purposes, they offer other configurations specifically designed for the task.
Also, be sure to check out their website at www.alienware.com. It has good info, but I miss their awesome macromedia flash page.
P.S. - You should note that the Alienware systems are dynamic models. They have had the Area51 for awhile and it evolves as technology does.
