Where to begin? I suppose I'll list some of the options that have come in handy with this program.
First and foremost is the slideshow. Yes, many programs offer a slideshow, but in my years of internet surfing, this program proves to be the best free slideshow program out there. You select directories, and can modify your slideshow a great deal, removing pictures and adding pictures. When you come up with a slideshow worthy of a king, you may then save the show for later viewing.
Another great feature is the screenshot utility. When you use this option, a list of available windows on your desktop pops up, and you select which window to capture. You can capture any window you want, so you can edit and grab pictures from it at a later time.
You can also open anything in a hex viewer, which is for serious computer users only, really. With the hexview you can edit things on a hex level, and with some experience can make some really nice changes to things.
Converting files from jpeg or bmp to other formats is easy with this program. Just select the files you want to convert(you can do batch conversions as well) and click on start. They will be put in the directory of your choice, and very little qaulity is lost when going form larger formats to smaller ones. Very nice indeed.
Although I have not gotten this feature to work(the acquire feature), I have not really tried it, as I have been having problems with my scanner as of late. I believe that this feature will allow you to use your scanner through IrfanView, which is very nice. I think it's time to reinstall my scanner for some testing.
You can also put effects on your pictures, like oil painting, explosion, pixel size, and even color swapping(RGB -> GRB). Indeed a nice feature for a free downloadable program.
Aside from pictures, you can open wav sounds, mov files, avi, and MANY other formats, just too many too list. With avi files and the other movie type formats, you can capture images, play it backwards(I think) and other neat things like that.
The author of this even goes so far as to offer some of his source code to you if you ask and have a valid reason (I believe).
This program is truly chock-full of interesting utilities, and I do not think there is a freeware program out there that offers as much as this one does in its field. This is a definate 'must download'.
