I got my cable modem about 3 months ago.
I already had a home network setup using ICS, but after I got the modem i plugged it directly into the uplink port on the hub...
oh yeah the guy saw the hub but did not set me up for multiple IPs hehe.......
So.. after waiting a few days for them to assign me some more IPs it worked great.
Thanks for the great review.
I'm sure that many people considering a cable modem will be helped a LOT by this review.

This was a good, informative
opinion. My requirements for a good
review of cable modem service may be
too subjective, but I wished this opinion
had explained in more depth how to connect multiple computers through a cable modem.

I appreciate your advice on cable modems. I have subscribed to cable service since 1996 or 7 and have been VERY happy with it until the last few months. Over the last few months I have been very displeased with the speed. Does anyone have any comments about other reasonably priced alternatives?
Also, I have been looking at Starband but am hesitant to spent the $700 or so to start without really knowing how well it works.
