I tested the Epox EP-8KTA with a Duron 600 CPU, 128 Mb of Hyundai 133MHz SD-RAM, nVidia Vanta 16Mb video card and a 20 Quantum HDD, plus the onboard sound chip. Firstly; the motherboard layout and labeling is excellent, you barely need the manual do do a first time setup. All the default jumper settings are the way I prefer and all cable connectors are clearly marked. The manual also has excellent detail and good clear images. My only gripe is the bios error beep tones are not explained at all in the manual.
I set the board to run at clock + 33 (giving a FSB speed of 133MHz) and installed Win98SE without problem. A couple of hours thrash testing with Unreal Tournament Benchmarks gave good results and no sign of instability. I then wiped the hard-drive and installed Win2kPro. Onto this I have installed Unreal Tournament Demo, Half-life counterstrike and Tribes. I have been using this box (with an extra 64 Mb ram) as an Internet Games Server for the last six weeks without a single crash (and only 2 restarts) and a fairly sustained load on the system.
In summary, this has been one of the best boards I have worked with in a long time in terms of ease of use, performance, stability and price.
