| Greg2000's Full Review: Compaq Presario 5600 |
Although my model is now a year out of date (5635), and is a Pentium II, I would highly recommend the Compaq Presario series to anyone looking to get a great deal on a new computer. The new computers now include a DVD-ROM which works like a CD-ROM, but you know can also watch DVD movies on your PC. The sound system included is also excellent, JBL Pro 3-D virtual theater sound speakers, with Dolby digital of course. This provides the newest advancements in sound. Only 2 speakers attached to your screen, give surround sound, making your gaming and music listening experience out of this world. At the bottom of the stylish tower, there is a digital imaging center for Mini-DV camcorder interface and 2 USB ports. I liked the fact that it has 512KB L2 pipeline burst cashe with new 50% faster 100MHz system bust. All programs run very smoothly, and not choppy. The computer has a ton of storage (8 gigs) and is expandable. Also it included a Zip drive, for backup storage. A new style keyboard is standard with Presarios now. Not only is it you ordinary keyboard, but it also has buttons to control your CD player (operated deluxe CD player w/ CDDB which recognizes your audio CDs and displays track names) and volume. The keyboard also has a launch button, the instantly opens your most used program with the touch of a button. On the far right are the instant internet buttons, which instantly take you to your email, internet search, and more. As well as a good computing system, which includes Windows 98, you can a lot of free software. Microsoft works, Motoracer (game), Quicken, and Rage are just some of the free applications that come with the Presario I bought. I do admit that sometimes I have been a little confused with how to do something, but Compaq has a very friendly, helpful, and patient customer service line that is free for the first year. When I do buy my new Pentium III PC, I am going to buy a Compaq Presario series computer, and would recommend that you buy one too.
