Before I purchased the 3com HomeConnect USB camera, I had a Quickcam VC. I bought the Quickcam for it's price. I found a refurbished quickcam vc on ebay for $32. I bought it and it was fine for a while. Then I discovered I needed something with a more clear picture and better framerates. I came to epinions and read some reviews on the homeconnect and saw that it was the best camera to get, especially in low-light conditions. This camera was going in my basement. It only had one overhead light, so a cam like this would really apeal to me. I ordered it from Onvia.com and used a coupon and free shipping, so I got it for $75(half price)! It was delivered only 2 days after I ordered it! I was excited to set it up and did so in about 5 minutes. The software wasn't much help, but since I had my own (webcam32), it was not a big deal. I run a webcam website and you can compare the quickcam vc with the homeconnect at www.DjmCam.com --- Cam #1 is the Quickcam VC, and Cam #2 is the Homeconnect. As I said, they could have done more in the software catagory, but the hardware is alone worth the $150! I have seen the Quickcam Pro in action and it's quality is nothing compared to 3com. This cam was originally sold by Vista Imaging and was bought by 3com. The good thing about that is Vista Imaging sells lens packs that are for Vicam(homeconnect)! For about $60 you can buy 3 additional lens including Close up, Super Close up, and Wide Angle. These add more functionality to this camera and especially the wide angle is good for meeting rooms or survelience. The 2 close up lens' are good for showing product detail or focusing on a small or specific object. The 3com Homeconnect is the way to go when buying a webcam!
