3dfx card or Nvidia card? You decide

Apr 18 '00 (Updated May 06 '00)

Most people that i know would prefer a Nvidia TNT2 or GeForce256 card over a Voodoo3 2000 3000 or 3500.Reason why is because most of those people just like not having all those so called jaggies that you would not see with a TNT2 or GeForce card.Hey i would too man.A lot of people i know out there are just completely dissing 3dfx just because their texture quality isn't as lively as a Nvidia card and because 3dfx cards suck cause you can see jaggies?Hey man that's fine with me but if your a true gamer then a voodoo3 card MAY not be the choice for you just because you can see those jaggies but over-all texture quality i've seen in games on a Voodoo3 machine and a TNT2 machine had no MAJOR difference. On my 333 K6-2 V3 2000 AGP card i was playing Unreal Tournament. At the same time my friend brought over his K6-2 500 Vipor v770 TNT2 card machine and was playing UT also.To compare the two visual wise i saw practically no difference at all just that my game you could still see the jaggies in the game.TNT2 and GeForce cards still have jaggies in them just not as visible as a V3 card.If I were you i would just wait till 3dfx releases their Voodoo5 6000AGP.That is going to be the card to get for any type of user and will finally shutup many of those Nvidia fanatics. With 3dfx's awesome 128MB SDRAM and full anti-aliasing which will finally get rid of those jaggies once and for all.Not even one trace of it!Hopefully. Also with their added motion-blur setting your gaming experience will be kicked up to the next level of gaming.I've seen screen shots of Quake 3 Arena with motion blur on and let me tell you it brings the gaming world back to 3dfx.Plus 3dfx is the only 3d card developer that supports Glide which Nvidia or any other 3d card developer does not have.Take Unreal Tournament for example.Enabled in 3dfx Glide mode it makes it have no difference even with a TNT2 based card.Though i'm hating 3dfx right now just because their Voodoo3 2000 isn't working quite as i hoped on my K6-2 system.Out of all the forums i've read with V3 2000 problems most of them are from K6-2 users.Problem I have is just such low low low low FPS(frames per second)!I'm getting like average 13-15 with Half-life and UT.Quake2 i get around 32 average but you can't compare q2 to UT.Even with new drivers and I just downloaded wickedGL to see if that would help but no luck what so ever.Even tried to run Half-Life in like the lowest resolution there was but no luck.So you can't go wrong with a Nvidia card because their cards just simply kick ass but don't count out 3dfx.With their new VSA-100 chipset Nvidia will finally be worrying about competetion.
